Querarani Primary School

Querarani is located on the Altiplano, a desert plain located at over 12,000 feet above sea level. The inhabitants of the Altiplano have had to adapt to a harsh environment where there are no trees and very few crops grow well. Querarani is a small village of people who manage to sustain themselves by growing and selling mainly potatoes and green beans and raising livestock.
This school consists of two large rooms which, because of the shortage of teachers in Bolivia, allows the teachers to teach a number of grades at once. The people of Querarani pulled together to build this new schoolhouse in just three months, in order to give their children a chance for a better life.
