Shree Primary School
Date of Completion: June 1997
This community is located in the very far Western corner of Nepal -- a more than 24 hour bus ride from the capital city, Kathmandu. The community members showed up in force for the initial mass meeting and kept their support strong throughout the project.
The original school in Asaina was a very run down two room mud hut for over 200 students. Most of the classes had to meet under a group of trees next to the school, including more than eighty pre-schoolers. In just over three months the community completed a seven room brick schoolhouse. The students have now moved from their mud hut school into the new building allowing classroom space for all students.
