For this project, we returned to Bardiya District, just a few miles down the road from the first BWB schoolhouse in Hau Pur. Belauli is very similar to Hau Pur in that its residents have suffered the same discrimination. All the people of Belauli were aware of the schoolhouse in Hau Pur and were very excited at the prospect of building their own school.
The covenant agreement signed at the start of the project was "signed" by 190 people. More than 140 villagers, however, placed their fingerprint on the document because they were not able to sign their names. They were so eager for more education, to better the lives of their children, that they built the school in just over two months!
