Hello all!
"Now we are able to say that our dream has been changed into reality." The Magarpur community eagerly announced this when they saw the final product: their new school. They seemed very happy to see the fruit of labor before them after three hard months of work. After adding the final plastering touches, the villagers decorated their school with nice paint (pictured). The school was originally established by the community five years ago and had been run in a cow shed. Later, they built a temporary structure, which was grossly inadequate for all 108 students in the village.
The villagers never gave up, and worked hard to develop their new school, Now they have six-roomed permanent school building, as well as enough furniture and teaching materials to educate their kids more effectively than ever before. All the parents are fully satisfied with BwB's contribution towards making their children's future a better one.
The new school will encourage more students to continue to learn or to begin learning. It will also increase the number of girls attending classes, and raise community awareness in the fields of education, health, and social work. The people here would like to thank BwB for its generosity in helping a village as rural as Magarpur. Without BwB, we would never be able to accomplish such a feat. We also wish to thank John Myers for his donation, as well as all the BwB students who helped to make the future of the Magarpur children a bright one. Here are a few quotes from villagers:
"Education is a ray of light that brightens our lives" -Jagganath Acharya, 50. Project Support Committee Chairman.
"BwB has taught us how to unite as a community, and they have shown us the power of coming together to get things done. Before this project, we would have never thought it possible to complete such a huge job in so short a period of time." -Damodar Magar, 42. Farmer.
Besides the school building, BwB also helps communities obtain furniture for the school and establish a school building maintenance fund. As part of the covenant outlined from the beginning of the project, the community has to deposit $100 USD in this fund, and BwB will add up to $500 USD in four years. This fund will help maintain the school for many years. Some amount can also be spent on teacher salaries, sports materials, and preservation of the trees and the garden in the school, which we believe will create nice environment for students and teachers.
Students are in holiday after finishing exams. However, they are very excited to use the new school building after studying on the open ground for three months. In fact, they will be using the new school in a matter of days. Finally, according to the villagers, they are now assured that they need not have to be worried about their children's education, as this wonderful new school will last at least 100 years.
Thank you all!
Pannaman,
Magarpur
