BwB School Reports: Nawolpur, Nepal

July 9, 2007

The school in the village of Nawolpur is complete, with 118 children (64 boys/54 girls) attending the school, plus 2 adult literacy classes offered at the school. This is part of the final report on the building of the school.

Although the school building is complete, the school has not been inaugurated yet. They are waiting for the new academic year because all the children have just completed the final exam of the last year and waiting for results. They will inaugurate the school soon.

On the constuction completion day, most of the children and parents were participating in the completing ceremony. Most of the children had come to see the school coloring and painting. A group of men and women were busy painting and clearing the grounds.

All of the children looked very excited. The parents had a kind of satisfaction on them and happiness on them. They also looked much excited about the new school.

Comments from two of the village residents:

Mr. Harke Kami, 60, is one of the Dalit of this village. He doesn't know much about education because he never got the change to go to school but he thanks Building with Books who supported this school to open children's eyes.

Mr. Shive Ram Chaudhary, 36, is one of the literate people in the village. He said the new school is a really good and strong building. We did very hard work to complete it from starting to the end and the Building with Books staff did a very good job to monitor from their side. We have now a good school in our village. It will support our children to have good education. Only infrastructure is not everything but it's a foundation we have available and the community, parents, teachers and children have to play an active role to made a good educational environment for the children. He thanks Building with Books who supported the construction of the school in this remove village.

Mr. Nepalu Chaudhary, the head teacher of the school, said he thanks Building with Books and the American students who support the construction!
