Building with Books runs after-school programs in 108 high schools across the U.S. These programs offer students the chance to act locally
and globally at the same time.
While they are making positive changes in their own lives, they are also changing the lives of others - both in their communities and around the world.

Locally, BwB members take action through intensive volunteer
service in their own communities. Globally, members raise funds to help build schools in villages in developing countries. They also learn about global issues and track the progress of school construction
through
online updates.
Through these programs, students:
- perform intense volunteer service projects in their communities
- participate in global education sessions focused on developing countries
- raise funds to help build schools
in these countries
97% of American high school students in Building with Books programs during the past five years
have gone on to college.
In addition to these three core activities, BwB offers two enrichment programs:
Lead. Lead is BwB's year-long leadership program. Click here for more information.
Trek for Knowledge. An opportunity for BwB members to help build schools in developing countries. Click here for more information.
Currently, Building with Books works with schools in six major metropolitan areas. Click here for a list of current schools hosting BwB after-school programs.
